Robert Cato's interest in the historical edged weapons of the Muslim Filipinos began during his study of the Philippine martial arts. His research, spanning nearly a decade, included visits to the Morolands, consultation with library sources, unpublished manuscripts, and experts in the United States and abroad. In addition, he has studied every major museum collection of Moro weaponry in the U.S., Philippines and Spain, along with many private collections.
Mr. Cato is a graduate of California State University Long Beach, and is an educator by profession. He has written articles on the Moros for publications in the U.S. and the Orient.
