The waters around the Western Isles have seeped into the people's way of life, their history, language & culture. The seas have formed their character and the basis of their economic past, present & future. This book is, then, the story of a maritime community in which the sea is the thread which binds all together.
Frank Thompson was born in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, in 1931. His interests have always been Highland-centred and he has published several books as well as numerous essays and stories about the Highlands and Islands. He has also broadcast talks and short stories on radio, and participated in programmes on both Grampian Television and Scottish Television.
